If you are running into this error message after installing the latest download slot you will need to install this important windows update.

if you scroll down towards the bottom you will see


vcredist_x86.exe 2.6 MB Download

if you have 32 bit XP or Vista you want vcredist_x86.exe. This should be the most commonly one used.


Just click download and then save it to you machine and run it. Now dont worry if you grab the wrong one. The installer will tell you that you can not install it so you will not mess anything up. You will just need to go grab the other one.

I have Blackbeard's Revenge and also loaded the 3D download lobby, but cannot get this new game to load--what can I do? I've downloaded some of the patches, but no luck. I still have one download left. Can't this play outside of Live? I'd like to play this offline like the other slots I've purchased.

sounds like you are choosing to Run rather than download the slot.

Try choosing Save instead and then once the download is complete, go to the spot where you saved the file and double click on it to run it from your computer rather than having it install over the internet.

This slot like any of them can be played offline.

If you need to have the downloads reset you can email customer service and they can reset them for you.

What error message are you getting when you try to start this slot? Is it happening offline in the alacarte lobby and in Blackbeard's?

It is saying that "AlacarteSlots08.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I get the 3-D lobby (by the way, it looks distorted, stretched out) and when I click on the Adventure slot in the list, it brings up this message.

Also--shouldn't I see this slot loaded as a download in my Blackbeard (boxed version)?

JPK, If you do not mind; I would like to take a look at your DirectX file. This file will allow me to see what sound and video card you are using. Here are some instructions on how to send me this file:

1. Go to the Start button and left click your mouse on it.
2. Locate the Run option and left click your mouse on it.
3. Type "dxdiag" into the box that pops up and then left click your mouse on the OK button.
4. This will run the DirectX Diagnostic Utility. From here you need to look for the button at the bottom of the window that says Save All Information and left click your mouse on it.
5. Now I would like you to save this information to your Desktop. Look at the top of the window where it says Save in and make sure the word Desktop appears there.
6. Now go to the Save button at the bottom right of the window and left click your mouse on it. Once you have saved the file you may left click on the Exit button located in the lower right of the window to close the DirectX Utility.
7. Now that you have the file saved; open your email and send this file as an attachment to me.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, or difficulty with my instructions.

Yes you should see the slot in your Blackbeard downloads also. For the distorted screen, place a check mark in the box on the launcher that says Force Power of 2 Textures.

When you email me the requested file, I will be able to tell you more about the possible problem, and help your determine why the slot is not showing up in your download lobby of Blackbeard.

can anyone tell me why i am getting this message when i try to open ala carte and blackbeard(digital):

After installing Adventure DOWNLOAD got the side by side error. vcredist_x86.exe did not fix it. (Vista 32 bit) Had to use system restore, then had to repair Ala Carte 2008 (icon missing). Uninstalling Adventure (before system restore) didn't work either.

Can anybody help? Is possible vcredist has to be done before installing Adventure or should it work afterwords?

you should be able to install the Microsoft update at anytime. You might try running offline updates and then installing the x86 update from Microsoft.

I know that when I got the side-by-side error I couldn't get any of the offline stuff to run until after I installed the x86 update.

if you are running 64 bit vista the x86 is the improper one to install why do people keep saying the x86 is the one to install when a person is running 64 bit? and 64 bit does nort relolve the side by side error tried it and irt only occurs in black beards revenge nothing elkse played offline

Bill - I can't argue with you about it seeming strange about using the 32-bit version of the C++ update working on 64-bit systems, all I know is that it is what actually corrects the issue (at least it did for me and I think some others have mentioned it did for them also).

I have a 64-bit Vista system. I can only say from my own experience that when I installed the 64-bit update it didn't correct the offline side-by-side error that I was having. On a whim I went and installed the x86 file and the side-by-side error went away. I uninstalled the 64-bit update I had done and only have the x86 on my machine. Since installing the x86 I have not had any further issue with the side-by-side when playing offline.

I know my 64 bit Vista system also has a 32 bit system within and certain programs only use the 32 bit portion. This may be why it worked. Of course, I don't know how but know stranger things have happened.

Just as an FYI, today I installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and then reinstalled Blackbeard's. When I tried to play I got the side-by-side configuration error. I installed the x64 version of the update but still got the error. After uninstalling the x64, I tried the x86 version and that worked.

help help, i just downloaded the new holiday 3pack and i cant find it listed with my other downloads. it said something about a download patch so i did that. still no listing anywhere for the new 3pack. i also cannot play blackbeard. it has been perfect since you told me how to fix that. i must have done something but i dont know what. any ideas?

Go to where you saved the download, and click the file to install it. It will install all three slots in that one download.

I had to have a new hard drive installed on my computer, now when I download treasures of the far east I get this error message: Application configuration is incorrect & that I should re-install. I did that & I still get that mess. I have wind. XP with 32 bit. HELP!

I have been playing Blackbeard, far east and millionaire and now the launcher cannot find the cd anymore. It tells me to place the cd in player and try again. None of the programs in this series will open due to this problem
