Hi folks, I wrote up a pretty thorough explanation of how the NPC Quests, Karma, Luck, and Charms work. I'm sure there will be a lot more questions as this is a brand new concept in LIVE, so I'm going to start a new thread with questions/answers about anything NPC Quest-related. The link is:

Hopefully the following information will help you to understand how things work, have fun solving the quests and earning Magical Charms and other loot! Many many MANY more quests are on the way!
Karma, Luck, and Charms
Reel Deal LIVE has introduced a new NPC Quest system to the casino! The system revolves around new Charm inventory items and the new Luck and Karma attributes. You may begin the quests at Level 5, when your player is awarded their starting Luck and Karma amounts. You can view your Karma and Luck totals by going into the “I”nventory shortcut on your Toolbar. Speak to various NPCs throughout the casino (cashiers, pit bosses, attendants) to begin the quests. Each quest will require a minimum amount of Karma in order to attempt. The rewards for the quests will vary, from magical Charms which raise your attributes to items necessary in order to complete more difficult quests for better loot!
KARMA:
Karma is one of the 4 attributes used during NPC Quests. Your player starts with 3000 Karma when they reach Level 5. Karma is displayed as 2 numbers with a slash separating them. The number before the slash is your player’s Current Karma, and the number after the slash is your player’s Total Karma. As Karma is used, the Current Karma amount will decrease (2500/3000 for example). Total Karma is affected by equipping magical Charms. Karma can be considered a currency which is used to ‘purchase’ NPC Quests. For example, a cashier might tell you that you need 3000 Karma to attempt a quest. If your Current Karma is 3000 or higher, you can ‘buy’ that quest. Your current Karma would then reduce by 3000 and the quest would become active. For example, if you had 3055/3055 Karma, when you accept that quest your totals would drop to 55/3055 Karma. You can restore your Current Karma amount by spinning slots or by increasing your Karma Regeneration attribute (see below). Once you have purchased a quest, it will remain active until you either complete or abandon the quest. If a quest requires more Total Karma than you have, you will not be able to attempt that quest until you have earned enough +Karma Charms to reach the requirement. For example, if you have 3055/3055 Karma, and a cashier says that you need 3100 Karma to attempt their quest, you will need to go beat some other quests and earn Charms with 45 more Total Karma before you can return and attempt their quest. You can view your Karma totals on the Inventory window (“I” icon in the Toolbar), or on the Karma/Luck display box while spinning slot machines.
KARMA REGENERATION:
Karma Regeneration controls how fast your Karma will regenerate while you are in the LIVE casino. Karma will always regenerate while you are spinning a slot, however if you have equipped some Karma Regeneration Charms, your Karma will regenerate automatically while you are standing around in the casino, shopping in the Mall, playing in Poker tournaments…anytime! So if you want your Karma to regenerate more quickly, you’ll want to raise your Karma Regeneration attribute.
LUCK:
The Luck attribute will be used in certain NPC Quests to determine how long you have to meet a quest requirement. The more Luck you have, the easier it will be to beat a Luck-based quest. For example, a quest might tell you that you need to earn 20000 credits on a slot before your Luck runs out. When the quest begins, your Luck starts decreasing as you spin. If you haven’t reached 20000 credits before your Luck reaches 0, you will lose the quest. If your player has 1000 Luck, they will have a harder time beating the quest than a player that has 1500 Luck (since that player will have more time to reach the 20000 credits). Your player begins with 1000 Luck, which can be increased by beating quests and earning +Luck Charms. Every time you start a quest, your Luck will be regenerated so that you have full Luck on each attempt.
LUCK REGENERATION:
Luck Regeneration controls how fast your Luck regenerates while attempting a quest. During a quest that requires Luck, your Luck will continually decrease as time goes on. If you have +Luck Regeneration Charms equipped, during the quest your Luck will periodically increase instead of decrease, giving you more time to successfully complete the quest.
CHARMS:
Charms are earned as rewards for completing certain NPC quests. Charms vary in quality, with higher-quality Charms giving larger benefits. Charms can increase each of your player’s 4 attributes: Karma, Luck, Karma Regeneration, and Luck Regeneration. When you earn a Charm by successfully completing a quest, it will go into your Inventory. Click the “I” in the Toolbar to access your Inventory window. On the left side of the window you will see all the available slots which can hold a Charm. On the right side of the window will be a display of all the Charms that you have earned. Each Charm will have at least one attribute that it increases, which you can see from the red or blue icon on the Charm. A red “K” Charm will increase your Karma total, a red “+” Charm will increase your Karma Regeneration rate, a blue “L” Charm will increase your Luck total, and a blue “+” Charm will increase your Luck Regeneration rate. If you right-click on a Charm, a box will appear showing you the statistics of that Charm.
You can left-click on a Charm and drag it into the correct slot on the left side of the window, then release the mouse button to drop the Charm into that slot. Once a Charm is inserted into a slot, its benefit will be added to your player’s attributes. Make sure to always equip the best Charm possible for a particular slot! If you have a Horseshoe that is +35 Karma, and you find another Horseshoe that is +55 Karma, you will want to equip the new Horseshoe as it provides a larger benefit to your Karma. You will need to weigh the benefits of each Charm to decide which attribute you want to increase, so if you have a + Luck Clover and a + Karma Clover, you’ll have to decide which one you’d like to have equipped.
