I wanted to post this in a seperate thread guys. I know you wanted people to tell you why they are not playing in Vegas online no more.. BUT...as i read what they are saying, I feel its important to have my say in another thread about it.

I understand what alot of people are saying about the difference....but... I feel I should tell you the reasons why I do not play Vegas anymore.


Walking Around --- 3D Environment -- I , for one, and hope I am not the only one, but LOVES the 3D World part of LIVE. Walking around is fun for me and the main reason I play LIVE is for the fact it looks and sounds like a real casino. Yes, you have to walk to where your going, but my goodness, you have to do that for real, AND i APPRECIATE the fact that making LIVE feel like a real casino is part of this.
Vegas has drop down menus. I have tried to play Vegas Online after playing LIVE and Hate drop down Menus. So 2D it kills me.... I will not play there anymore because of that.
When you play Vegas, It does not feel or even sound like a real casino or ( world) which is what the aim is for LIVE.

I look forward very much to the "strip" opening up in LIVE, where we walk out this casino and down a strip to other casinoes ( expansions). I look forward to being able to lay down in my bed in my suite or hold a beer in my hand at the bar. Those things is what I most look forward to in the future of LIVE.

If you do LIVE Vegas online style, Those things are not even possible.

Anyways. I just want to end with a note to everyone. I am just expressing my views on why I love LIVE, and the things I look forward to.
Everyone is different and loves certain things about it, and some do not. Trying to make everyone happy is a very hard task, which Phantom, will try to do as they always do.

And to the people that disagree with me, thats fine. I saw the posts in Vegas Online and I just want Phantom know there is another view on this as well.

You're right, DK. There are 2 views and I have to say I'm with you on LIVE. I've tried to go back to Vegas every once in awhile, but it can't hold a candle to LIVE. The graphics are awesome, the fun of seeing everyone is great, and it offers sooo much more than Vegas. There's slots here that you can make lotsa money on. And I Lovvvve the new things coming that we learned about in Iowa. Bet ya alot of others will too!!! Can't wait! :)

sounds like both could co-mingle together as far as I see...

IF they could make dropdowns in live (and that is a big IF), people that want to just go to the slots can just go there by the dropdown and people who want to experience the full 3D can do so as well...

I think its possible to have both ideas mingling in the same game.

It does feel like you are walking around a real casino. When I used to go down to Atlantic City, I hated walking around some of those casinos. It's not quite that bad here but there are a few areas that should have better access from one point to the other. Where are those penny machines in AC? What you have to turn left, right left...slide down the laundry chute....then left again (well the laundry chute was a bit not true....I think).

I went back to Vegas Online after almost a 2 year hiatus and I am not a big fan of the drop down menus either. I do like the fact that the tournament pages do update when you switch from one type of tournament to the other unlike Live where sometimes you still dont get the tournament list when you first log on and then you have to leave and come back. I found that I really do miss those table tournaments and the poker seems to be a lot smoother and people actually play poker over there instead of going all in on the first hand with a 2 and 7 unsuited.

The slots have a better look on Live compared to Vegas. There are some that pay low but there are others that have the WOW(big wins....not the other online game) factor.

Well............................the thing I will miss most about LIVE is the people, and CJ I promised you I wouldn't leave............................but it just became overwhelming to me is all. I appreciate our little chats, the people is what I'll MISS most, the camaderie, but not the walking, the endless walking and the fact that I live only minutes from 5 casinos tempts me daily....................................I've learned to set limits, sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, and the computer has a plethora of websites to explore, and Scotty and I have been exploring......................................the only reason I stay on the boards is to see if Phantom is rectifying their problems.........................and to hear the scuttlebutt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm haaving the time of my life w/my new website and it will only last 7 days, but oh what a glorious 7 days., lol!!

In all honestly, if I know how to get to where i need to go, or if i know exactly where a certain slot is that i want to play , then i do not mind walking... But when it takes me 10 minutes to find a specific slot or place where i am suppose to go.... then IMO that is a waste of MY time..

the more ya walk the more ya learn so you'll learn where they are .... the easiest thing i found in far east is to go to the circle in the center of lion or dragon - almost all -if not all - are right there and keeps the search down to a minimum

I work on a comp all day at work, I dont want to relax and play a game looking and learning where eveything is..I for one like a few download slots have to walk all the way there then i like zoltar, hell i have to run around to switch slots.I dont like to play one slot for hours..

I think for pl who like the exp awesome..But for me i hate it, way less relaxing to sit and play..But it is just my feeling on it..:eek:

This discussion has been going on at Phantom ever since LIVE came out, and we're still on the fence about it. We talk about it almost every day, and in fact it is on our Tier 2 list from the Player Panel. We know at some point we will be adding some form of menu system to LIVE, but we definitely will NOT be getting rid of walking around. Certain things will be accessible through the menu, and certain things will not be (so you'll have a choice to use the menu for some things, but other things will require you to walk around if you want to do them).

That makes me happy just to know that. I feel much better knowing Phantom is not going to take that aspect away from the game no matter what. There might not be that many of us that appreciate the 3D aspect of the game, but I do, AND love it.

As far as making menu's for the other people that hate walking around. If it can be done for them, then awesome. I will be happy for them as well.

I COMPLETELY agree with FoxAnthony. I LOVE the 3D environment in Live, love walking around and interacting with things and people - it feels WAY more realistic. The one thing I miss in Vegas are the bots in poker and that's it. I can't stand the 2D nature of Vegas so I don't play on it at all anymore (I even uninstalled it). I play this game to feel like I'm in a real casino because I can't go to them very often and I wish I could. I also want to add that I have tried MANY MMOs and this is the only one I've stuck with. Those other ones got boring to me, felt like the same, repetitive stuff and they felt like they "punished" the solo player. This game doesn't and I really appreciate that. But the 3D environment is what makes the game feel like a realistic experience, and I would never want to go back to the old way again. Maybe I'm spoiled because I'm a hardcore gamer and I play a lot of games and they're getting more and more realistic - but the bar is set and that's what I'm going to spend my hard earned money on. I really like that we'll have a choice (though it may be limited) in whether we want to walk around or not. I love the 3D environment too, but when you spend most of your playing time doing quests, walking back and forth again and again gets tedious. I think having a choice will make many people happy. :)

The only MMO i ever played that has a better 3D Environment was City of Heroes. Boy I was so addicted that I quit playing Phantom alot, and called out of work almost all the time. Being a Slot Supervisor in real life...well.. I needed my paycheck, so quit CoH and came back to Vegas. I cannot even express how happy I was when i heard the news about thier LIVE Concept... and for the most part. Every bit of it is what I imagained.

Still want my suite to be more interactive, and be able to hold drinks in my hand..haha but I know LIVE is going in that direction, and thats why I am staying....

So WORD to the WISE.... Stick around with Phantom. I just have a good feeling they are heading in that direction I call UP.

The only walking that aggrevates me, is the constant walking back and forth, from the Quest giver, to the Slot Club, and back, for so many of the quests. That's one of the few places, I'd love to see a drop down menu, to get to, and from, the Slot Club. I also love the 3D. :)

Completely agree with you blazarbob. I stopped ALL Questing for this very reason. ALL the rewards are nickel & dime for the effort put out to get them. Worse yet, after you get them you ain't got NOTHING!!! Will try again one day when it looks like it isn't a lesson in futility.

It sounds like Phantom did a lot on the 15th fixes and additions, will there be more by July 1st Bryan?

I for one enjoy the aspect of walking around, I love immersion, but my dad gets easily annoyed by anything other than direct access straight to his favorite games.

He was like "Why can't they show it all at once, why do I have to scroll this view back and forth?" He's going to have a fit if he has to navigate a casino floor!

Ty Bryan, the fixes brought me back............................and I want to mention that the machines in Lobby are a nice touch, and the Poker, well I'm in CARD HEAVEN!!

The 3-D is the BOMB, just like a real casino, and I've tried a bazillion other sites, why do I come back? Its obvious there will NEVER be another Phantom..........................EVER!! The fixes made all the difference in the world to me, now things work and that makes me HAPPY!!

THE PLAYER PANEL had a lot to do with helping Phantom to give the input from all the players and ideas for adding and fixing certain parts of the game, and there are 109 items that are part of the program which is in the works to make this The GREATEST place ever....Phontom cares about their members...as you can see by the improvements....
