Spam?

Can someone tell me if this is for real. How in the world can I get banned from phantom if im payibg my fees. I got this message in my inbox:


Dear, missmary32;Nnett;Slotplayer2008;basketcase69;skipd avid!

Spam sending from your computer was detected.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: URL REMOVED
If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).

I assume that was in your PM inbox here on the boards. It is spam. Delete it and don't go to the link.

It would be good if you could edit your posting and remove the active link so no one looking at your post accidently "clicks" through.

I don't believe Phantom would send you a link to "test" your computer. As far as I know they don't and have never run a site that does any "online" virus check.

This type of message is a ploy that spammers use to infect computers with trojans which then can gather information based on what you type and sites you vist.

Just to be safe, you might consider using your virus protection program that you are already running on your computer and do a full scan of your computer.

If you did click that link, it is important you update and run your virus protection AND an anti-malware program like Adaware or Spybot search and destroy

You probably got a virus or some very nasty trojans if you clicked that link.

We at Phantom EFX will never send you an unsolicited Private Message or email asking you to visit any other website that isn't directly related to Phantom. So if you get any private messages or emails that sound suspicious, delete them and don't click on the links! If you can forward the PM to me, I'll have the user banned from the boards. Thanks!

ty all very much. i shouldve known lol. i fix and build pc's for a living and wasnt thinking. i got to update myself on all this new stuff lol. have a good one guys.
